First up, have a Veyron SS Pur Blanc for stopping by.
So I got the urge to boot up Fiveza today after I saw that the Lamborghini Veneno showed up in the Hot Wheels pack that came out at the start of the month and holy cow, that car is amazing. Absolutely wrecks face, and bloody gorgeous. The 9 bucks I paid would've been worth it just for that car.
Anecdote time: Nurburgring , Nordschleife, main straight, hypercar event. Veyron SS in front, Hennesey Venom behind and I'm in a Veneno. I'm 3/4 of the way down the straight, 6th gear as the Venom rides my ass, it seems as though he's hit the limiter and I thought I was just about to hit mine as I reach 9,000RPM and then, 7TH GEAR! I take off like a bullet and whiz past the Veyron on the downhill straight and take 2nd overall in the race.
This is the first time I've hit 7th gear in Fiveza, it was really weird. I'm used to a 6 speed in most racing games. Then I got to thinking this must've been what it was like for my folks when they first got a 5 speed manual. To have 4 speeds and then suddenly a whole new gear must be bewildering the first time it happens. I just found that strange.
I sat there also while playing Fiveza putting the new cars including the Auto Union D-Type and Jim Clark's Lotus Type-49, spinning out as massive amounts of rear-wheel induced oversteer spun me round and round and round. I got to thinking about Taki Innoue, how even though he was an abject failure in F1 he still had to be a damn good driver to get there. From there the train of thought led me to wonder how many would pay for a premium commentary channel of just Taki Innoue making sarcastic comments during each race? Maybe SiriusXM would pay to do something like that. I would seriously consider watching/listening to something like that.
Finally tonight, my favourite former Youtuber and creator of the greatest Fail Compilations on the internet TwisterNederland has a strange, beautiful fascination with the modern Wild West that is Russia. He's put together a fantastic new compilation about Russia and it's just amazing and terrifying at the exact same time. Only problem is that it's not Youtube, so it doesn't embed well.
